Nicole Gehbauer, LCPC, MAAT, CADC, CYI

I received my Master’s degree in Art Therapy from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I hold Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and Certified Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Counselor (CADC) credentials in the state of Illinois. My clinical expertise revolves around art therapy, mindfulness practices, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and parent coaching.

For the past eight years, I have worked in a variety of mental health settings, including outpatient, residential, and private practice facilities. I have practiced art therapy at The Child Adolescent & Family Recovery Center, Alternative Behavior Treatment Centers, Women’s Residential Services of Lake County, KGH Consultation & Treatment, and Global Alliance for Africa Therapeutic Counseling Program.

From my personal experience, I discovered that healing is holistic, addressing each person through his or her fundamental value and significance. As an art therapist, I strive to inspire and guide others in discovering their unopened doors and uncovering their inherent power, strength, and freedom to grow emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. I often incorporate mindfulness into treatment in order to generate a relaxed, engaged, and curious atmosphere for exploring and challenging issues.

I work with children, adolescents, adults, parents, and families. My specialties include self-esteem, self-expression, family conflict, adjustment disorders, substance abuse, self-injury, anxiety, mood disorders, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, and behavioral problems. I also teach yoga classes publicly and privately throughout the Chicago-land area.
